Superintendent's Update 6/7/20

Parents & Guardians,

We're coming down the homestretch! I know that this has been an adjustment for all of us, the way we weathered the last quarter of the school year. I commend you for your efforts. You have helped our faculty, staff, and administration get through uncharted waters with relative ease! This message will remind you of some upcoming important dates:

  1. The State Department of Education asked all of the districts in NJ to send out a parent survey. I sent it out on Thursday evening. It is due tomorrow. It should be in your email in box. If you cannot find it, I will have it posted on our Facebook page ASAP. Please take the time to fill it out; it is anonymous. I'm sure parent comments are going to weigh on how we open school in September.
  2. The last day of school is Tuesday, June 16th. We asked the teachers to stop giving new assignments commencing June 10th. That is the time your child should be making up missing assignments. Please have your children do their best to catch up!
  3. On June 16th, at 6:30 PM, we will be broadcasting our 8th Grade Virtual Graduation on Facebook live. Directions will follow.
  4. I have set-up a schedule for Chromebook drop-off & personal item pick-up. Commencing Wednesday June 17th, we will have a schedule devised so that you can drop off your child's Chromebook and any other school owned items, like reading books, text books, etc. In return, we will give you the contents of your child's locker or desk. I will begin sending out that schedule on Wednesday June 10th . Along with two hour windows for grade levels; we will have an evening pick-up on Thursday, June 17th from 4 PM-8 PM. Please make every effort to make your drop off/pick-up at your scheduled time if possible. If your child is involved in Extended School year, they will be notified  to keep their Chromebooks, but you can still pick-up your child's personal belongings. You will receive a schedule on Wednesday, June 10th & a reminder on Tuesday June 16th.

Cleaning/Sanitizing Chromebooks

For all students who take home their computers the recommended method of cleaning the surfaces and screen are as follows.
Lysol wipes are the preferred choice for the keyboard and screen.  They may leave a "haze" on the screens so you can buff the haze off with a clean microfiber cloth if necessary.  If the Lysol wipe is extremely wet, wring it out slightly before using.  Other wipes can be used, however DO NOT use any cleaners that contain bleach and DO NOT spray any cleaners directly on the keyboard or screen.
